Penalties of up to $3000 may apply for people who operate a Forklift without a licence.
The fine for an Employer who instructed or permitted that person to operate the machinery without confirming licence and competency beforehand is even greater, and if an incident has occurred the fines can be from $100,000 to $10m in cases of industrial manslaughter.
For a course that takes only a few days, the cost of taking this step is minimal when measured against the cost of risking it.
